A little different post this time, medical specifics in the Nitty Gritty
I am feeling good and settling into the leave. I am seeing positive response from the removal of the higher amount of screen interaction which is the goal of the leave. I have been going through the contents of our filing cabinet. Yes, a big metal filing cabinet, filled with files that have paper (gasp!) in them. So to do this I set up a big table in the room, next to where I had my ‘office’ set up here at home. So that gave me a pivot and wheel across the floor as a commute and it made me realize what losing the commute means. A number of columnists and websites have commented on this, and as we start to repopulate the offices, I just wanted to suggest everyone take a few moments at the end of your workday to ‘commute’. It may be a coffee, or tea. Read a chapter of a book. Yoga or a walk. The transition has been lost, particularly for those with families at home with them, but the value of even 5-10 minutes to refresh and revitalize is great. A little selfish is okay.
I love the idea of the “transition commute”. This is so true for me. I find myself wandering back to my computer and inbox “just in case” something urgent comes in after i so-called log off for the day. I need to get in the habit of truly logging off and signing out of my computer at the end of my workday as part of that transition.
A little selfish is ALWAYS okay! Best way to reset things IMO….
I commute daily and the traffic getting down those stairs some morning to get the office is unbelievable…
Love you Chuck!!!!!! ❤️🥰😘😁🙌
Love you Chuck!❤️🥰😘🙌
Hi Chuck and Ellen… I didn’t know anything about Chuck’s ordeal! Since many of our parents are gone we don’t hear all the news anymore!! My brother Dennis had a terrible year. A quadruple bypass the day after Christmas…numerous problems and surgeries afterwards. We almost lost him. He is much much better now.. gradually getting back to his old self! He lost a kidney and a large section of his colon about 25 years ago and has been cancer free ever since…and YOU WILL BE TOO!!! Next time we talk remind me to tell you about one of our first cousins I recently reconnected with. Our Uncle Jack’s daughter, Ruthie Slattery! In the meantime hang in there. You’re my cousins and I love you we have to keep in touch! Love, Margaret XO
