Next week will start with Labs and an MRI. Those appointments never make for a good day, but a rather necessary one. Results and next infusion on the 5th.
If you worked with or by me, you would remember post-its, stagger stacked email printouts and a number of ways I would organize my desk to make sure I got my daily tasks done. I have found over the last couple months that this medicine occasionally challenges my memory. In addition to it being very frustrating, it also has required me to scatter mail, forms and notes on the dining room table (Ellen is very understanding). So in addition to getting me ready for twenty years down the road when my memory starts going, it also has helped me manage through these days. Didn’t realize all the training and seminars over the years would make sure I bought the right size batteries.
Stay safe. Be kind
The world lost a joyful spirit and supportive friend at the end of last week. For me it is the second loss, and third new diagnosis, related to cancer, among my friends and family. Cancer is a club that doesn’t ask its members if they want to join.
With the Jewish High Holidays beginning on Friday, I decided to take a moment and move into a media free bubble. With everything going on I needed to be able to process it for myself. There are multiple important, non-ignorable, critical issues currently in the world, but for a couple days I set them aside. I told those I would be with what I was doing so they could support me, instead of popping the bubble with every new story, post or tweet.
And when they need to take a break, I will be there to support them.
I know everyone’s situation is different and everyone can’t stop a part of their lives. I will repeat my statement from a few months ago, a little selfish is okay. Take the time to settle your mind even if it’s just a book instead of Facebook at bedtime. Kindness goes a long way, even when it’s self-kindness
Hang in the bro! You’re doing great! ❤️
Thinking of you so often that we are back in ABV1 and I am missing my “office mate”. This place is not the same without your presence. Sending virtual hugs from our whole team!!
