I completed the 4th of 8 infusions Monday, and so far all good. Labs were all normal and this is now when we will have a first look at the impact on the cancer (details in Nitty Gritty).
A CT will be scheduled at months end to set a new baseline for the second half of this treatment protocol. If anything unusual shows up it could influence the direction of the treatment, but based on what’s labs show, its looking like expected progression.
So for now, keeping busy and active as much as possible. Experiencing increased fatigue afterward, but mostly okay during activities. Watching the reopening of the neighborhood to see where I feel safest with the different ways businesses are implementing the new rules.
I was able to get into the pool and stretch out my muscles for the first time in a while. Our local Y has a reservation system with segregated lanes and entrance and exits that don’t overlap, so minimal interaction (which is good, and bad from a social standpoint). I’m fine in the pool as, since I’m swimming, my face is in chlorinated water
So waiting on CT scheduling and then the other half of the protocol. 4 down, 4 to go.
Stay safe. Be kind
There are 3 main possibilities for what could show up in the CT. One, no indication of any impact, and since I’m not showing side effects, no evidence that the drug is affecting me (very rare). Two, drug is impacting the cancer but I’m one of the people that don’t get the side effects (hopeful). Three, drug is still working to build a load level that will trigger expected activity (probable).
So given that, the best approach is to wait for months end and run the CT then. This will give the drug another few weeks to hold potency and impact the cancer.
This test will then become the new baseline for measurement, as there may have been disease progression over the last few months.
All of this is the expected protocol, if anything unusual shows up, then other options are available and a decision would be made on whether and when they may be considered.
Hi Chuck…so pleased to hear of the progress. Were right there with you.
